The backstory of the enigmatic Captain Phasma and her beginnings on a brutal, primitive backwater. The story is exciting, there are some characters you really grow to care about, and some interesting political parallels are teased out between the First Order and the real world - a little bit of an insight into how fascist regimes can take root. But it's also just a really good exciting read. My only problem with it is that Phasma is portrayed as just about the most dangerous, formidable warrior you're ever likely to come across... but in the movies there's so little of her that it feels like even more of a shame that she doesn't get to do much except stand around in her glorious armour.
