What do a psychiatrist, a mother, and an expert hitman have in common? Their time is running out in these three fast-paced thrillers from the World's #1 Bestselling Writer, James Patterson.

DEAD MAN RUNNING: Psychiatrist Randall Beck specializes in PTSD cases--and his time is limited. Especially when he uncovers a plot to kill a presidential candidate.

113 MINUTES: Molly Rourke's son has been murdered--and she knows who's responsible. Now she's taking the law into her own hands. Never underestimate a mother's love.

13-MINUTE MURDER: He can kill anybody in just minutes--from the first approach to the clean escape. His skills have served him well, and he has a grand plan: to get out alive and spend his earnings with his beloved wife, Maria.
An anonymous client offers Ryan a rich payout to assassinate a target in Harvard Yard. It's exactly the last big job he needs to complete his plan. The precision strike starts perfectly, then somehow explodes into a horrifying spectacle. Ryan has to run and Maria goes missing. Now the world's fastest hit man sets out for one last score: Revenge. And every minute counts.

I thought I was getting a new book by James Patterson himself. Instead what I got was a book with three different stories, each co-authored by a different person. Each is about 150 pages, give or take some. My overall rating is for the book combined. What follows (without spoilers) is my take on the individual stories. DEAD MAN RUNNING (with Christopher Farnsworth) - this first story is the most tightly written and realistic of the three (although it gets a bit loose in spots). I liked it 2nd best of the 3. 113 MINUTES (with Max DiLallo) - this is my favorite of three. It has the best story line and really twisted (but decent) ending I didn't see coming. It is somewhat less tightly written than the 1st one and there are some leaps of logic, but I liked it a lot. Never did figure out the numbered chapter headings (you'll see what I mean). 13-MINUTE MURDER (with Shan Serafin) - My least favorite of the three. Weird story with a lot of holes in the story line and some truly gruesome elements. All murder stories are gruesome by nature - but in this one the "gruesome" is too gratuitous. If I had known this was three, co-authored, novella-length stories, I might have demurred. Why the book was named after one of the stories, I can't imagine.

3 stories in one Dead Man Running Psychiatrist Randall Beck specializes in extreme PTSD cases with clients such as first responders, special forces. Beck has an inoperable brain cancer that will take his life. He uncovers a plot to kill a presidential. He finds the person responsible and stops the killing.
113 minutes- Molly Rourke's son has been murdered and she knows who is responsible. She plotted to bring down the person that gave drugs to her son. Robbed banks to get money to get in to auction and stole all money guests had. With that they paid off their farm and the person responsible went to jail. The FBI person that was on the case, married Molly.
13-Minute Murder Michael Ryan can kill anybody in just minutes. He was paid to kill a target in Harvard Yard with help from other shooter. That was done, but the father, a rich drug dealer, paid him to find out who ordered the hit. Michael found his wife killed, then he killed his partner and anyone that would not give him answers. The victim's brother ordered the hit, the killed him too.

This was a great collection of three stories about murder. The were devious, interesting and i the third a little bit of humor (if murder can ever be considered humorous). Good, interesting and different plot lines. Quick reads to fill in a few hours each.
