This book dragged a bit in the last ten pages but I loved it, loved it, loved it. Beautifully written with sparkling dialogue, -- Nina is laugh-out-loud outrageous -- a well-constructed storyline, fully-fleshed characters, strong heroines & some romance for balance. I usually have trouble following books that shift back & forth in time but this one managed to keep me focused. Kate Quinn has steadily improved since her Empress of Rome series & she hasn't disappointed me yet.

Having read and really enjoyed “The Alice Network”, this latest novel by Kate Quinn was disappointing. It was too long, and though the theme was of interest to me, I think the story could have been told effectively in 200 pages less. The author was clearly fascinated by the story of “The Night Witches” - the female Russian bombers of WW2 but spent too many pages on this story. I struggled to keep going to the end, but the last few chapters were very suspenseful.

This WWII era novel of the search for a war criminal has an interesting combination of the major powers of the war represented - a Russian pilot, a British soldier, and an American of Polish ancestry. The characters are interesting - I bonded with them all, except for the Nazi, of course. There are numerous flashbacks, but they are easy to follow unlike many novels that use this type of narrative. I became very involved in the hunt and recommend the book. Kristi & Abby Tabby

I loved this book. Usually a book this long begins to drag (like The Witch Elm - painful) but The Huntress held my interest. Nina was such a great heroine and reading about the night witches was fascinating for me.

Nina Markova is "the best heroine since Lisbeth Salander" - Margaret Cannon. Back in France, hunting the Nazis before they hunt you down.

This book, I'm sad to say, was just okay. I skimmed through quite a bit of it; I just couldn't get into it. I loved The Alice Network, and was so looking forward to this book. I just didn't connect with any of the characters, and I think that was the main reason that this book dragged on for me.

This book dragged for me, it was an effort to finish it. For me, it was just OK.

I thought it was a great historical read as it shows both sides of the coin.

Maybe I rated this low because my expectations were so much more since I LOVED the Alice Network so much. This just didn't ring true for me toward the end.

4-4 1/2 star read. I really enjoyed "The Huntress" and although it didn't grab me as quickly as "The Alice Network" did, it worked it's way into my mind and stayed there until the book was finished. Three different women in three different worlds, all standing by a lake, not knowing that their paths will some day cross. One, a Nazi criminal who killed children, the other a Russian aviator, one of the dreaded Night Witch flying brigade, and the other a young girl in Boston just beginning to figure out what her future might hold. And the men who hunt the Nazis after the war to bring them to justice, enabling the women to meet in a hunt for justice. I loved the strong women heroines and the story really grabbed me as I read along. An interesting and very good read.
