This movie is fun. The songs are catchy and the scenes are expertly crafted. I was surprised that I like the movie so much. It's a feel good movie for sure.

I loved this (fictionalized) account of PT Barnum's life and his creation of the Barnum Circus. The songs are completely addictive, especially "Greatest Show" and "Rewrite the Stars," and Keala Settle's rendition of "This is Me" will bring tears to your eyes. Just a really heartwarming story, with so many great actors and actresses and a message of acceptance that resonates. Can I give it six stars?--Rachel (for more of Rachel's suggestions, follow WoodneathRachel)

I will never watch a movie about someone who did almost more than anyone else to create a lifetime of enslavement and misery for sentient animals such as elephants. Check out you-tube videos about how they train baby elephants by torture with electric shocks and beatings, and watch a wonderful Passionate Eye documentary about the life and death of a circus elephant in Hawaii and then see how much you love the idea of circuses. I am glad that for the most part they are now being phased out. Go watch Cirque de Soleil instead!

I was going to rate this movie a 3 star, then watched the additional material and had to up my rating. This is definitely NOT the greatest musical you will see, and however forgettable the music may be, it is wonderful in the way P T Barnum was. One of a kind. If you feel out of place and at odds with the world I guarantee the song THIS IS ME and it's choreography will add a bounce in your step and a lift to your chin. Hugh Jackman and the beautiful Zac Efron added the star power, and the song and dance delivery.
Its different and fun. And I recommend it if you need to be perked up and inspired.

This was a pretty good show! The music was amazing and the show itself was pretty good

Younger viewers with little experience of musicals may be pardoned for thinking this is one of the greatest movies ever made. But it ain't "West Side Story" or "Singing' in the Rain." It's more like "Paint Your Wagon."

It may be a slight exaggeration to say that The Greatest Showman is the greatest movie of all time, but, then again, maybe not. I and thousands of others went to the movie theater multiple times to enjoy this spectacle! The music for The Greatest Showman is written and composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and those 11 original songs are extremely good, each one deserving an Oscar! What a fun movie. What great performances by each and every actor. What talented singing and dancing. What a good story line, even if some of it is made up. Who cares? I loved every second of it, and am highly disappointed, even angry, that this movie did not get the recognition it clearly deserved from the Academy. Stuffed shirts!

For me, this was musical-on-film at its best. The visuals, score, and songs were all in tandem with each other and it was AMAZING. However, the story, for me, left much to be desired. I was bored by anything that wasn't a musical number.
Having seen a fantastic production Roustabout, a play focusing heavily on the life/plight of circus performers (including animals), I felt uncomfortable with the idea that Barnum was helping his employees celebrate their unique, unappreciated talents when in reality he and other circus masters were extremely exploitative. I wonder what would have happened if they hadn't based this on P.T. Barnum, but created a Barnum-esque original character who rose from poverty by starting a circus. It would have been easier to embrace the thematic message of the film as its creators intended.

I never liked your show. But I always thought the people did.
-They do.
Mind you, I wouldn't call it art.
-Of course not.

Phillip: Show business? I've never heard of it.
