It's cute. I enjoyed it more during my first read through, but that was probably because I was younger. The first book is the shortest, making it a quick read--finished in a couple hours. The humor is lighthearted and "punny" but a little excessive at times, as well as Brewer's constant reminders that Vlad isn't all human or all vampire. I do understand that it's written for a teen audience but now that I'm in university and rereading this, I feel like the characters were too juvenile, even for being 13. Even some of the adult characters could have been darker and more developed. Given that Brewer was writing for teens instead of children, she had the opportunity to explore more serious aspects of vampire life but doesn't really touch on them. Cute story, but it certainly had the potential to be better.

Intriguing first book in the chronicles of a teenage vampire hero, Vlad.

Well thought out premise and easy to fall in line with the protagonist and other characters that round out Vlad's life.

I can't wait until the next one comes in on my holds list.

Awesome book!!!!!!!!!!!!One of the best vampire books i ever read. Totally recommend it for vampire lovers { such as EDWARD CULLEN in TWILIGHT SAGA and just for the record he is super HOT & SEXY} This book kicks vampire diaries ass-badly {i mean it's just like twilight. The author is a pathetic loser} This book has 4 sagas: This is the first one, Ninth grade slays is the second one, Tenth grade bleeds is the third one and the last one is eleventh grade burns, FYI.READ THEM ALL. If you ever read the book "the night runner"{max turner} you will totally enjoy this. BTW if you have not read "the night runner" then chech it out and it is not as scary as it sounds. TTYl!!!!!!!!!{its actually a awesome teen book by LAUREN MYRACLE}

I haven't finished yet but I am enjoying it a lot.

This vampire is a mix of the Cullens, and old fashioned vampires.

The was he acts, if garlic really is deadly to him, what the sun can do to him etc.

Easy read, not hard to understand.
Fun. :)
